What's not covered with a Britannia car insurance policy?
 

  • Any drivers who aren't named on the policy.
  • Damage to any car you're driving that's not the car you've insured with us.
  • If the car is stolen when the keys are left in, or near the car, the engine was running or it was left unlocked.
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown.
  • Any vehicle that's already been classified as a Category A or Category B write-off.

Motor legal expenses

Motor legal expenses (MLE) gives you up to £100,000 to pursue another party for any uninsured losses (like loss of earnings) you've sustained as a result of an accident that wasn't your fault.

Included as standard with our Britannia Premier cover level and available to add to our Britannia Car Insurance and Britannia Essentials cover levels.

Gauranteed hire car means you'll have access to a small hatchback if your vehicle is stolen, written off or being repaired by our recommended repairers.

This may be included depending on your cover level:

Britannia Essentials Car Insurance - Included while your car is being repaired. Add to your policy for £6.90 to cover you if your car's stolen or written off.

Britannia Car Insurance - Included while your car is being repaired. Add to your policy for £6.90 to cover you if your car's stolen or written off.

Britannia Premier Car Insurance - Included as standard.

It means that any No Claim Discount (NCD) you've built up is protected - no matter how many claims you make.

To qualify for this optional extra, you need to have earned four or more years NCD.

If you wish to add protected NCD cover to an existing policy, you can do this in your Britannia account.

Note: You can't add protected no claim discount if you've had a claim that would impact your NCD

Your premium may still be affected if you make a claim.

Choose from our 3 levels of breakdown cover:

Local, National, and European. 

Local: If you break down more than 1/4 mile away from home, we'll cover local recovery up to 10 miles from where your vehicle broke down.

National: If we can't fix your car on the spot or at home, we'll sort recovery for you and your passengers to anywhere in the UK.

European: You'll get everything from our National cover, plus we're on hand in Europe too.

No. Unfortunately Britannia Insurance does not currently offer a multi car policy.

If you have either of our Britannia Premier or Britannia cover levels, you're covered if you put the wrong fuel in your vehicle. We'll pay to fix the engine damage and drain & flush your fuel tank.*

Misfuelling cover is not provided with our Britannia Essentials cover level.

* You'll need to pay your accidental damage excess, this amount is shown in your documents. You can find your documents in your Britannia account.
